Cambodia's Koh Ker was built during the 10th century, but was abandoned in 944. Heavily mined during Cambodia's 30-year-long civil war, Koh Ker was cut off from the outside world. The temples were consumed by the jungle. The Cambodian government plans to apply for UNESCO World Heritage status for Koh Ker next year.
