We begin the show with the latest from southern China, which was hit recently by Typhoon Hato. After being struck hardest by the country's strongest typhoon of the year, Guangdong Province has seen the gradual return to normalcy -- with the resumption of traffic and power supply to affected areas.
However, the 14th tropical storm of the season, Pakhar is expected to sweep through east of the South China Sea on Saturday and make landfall in coastal areas in Guangdong to the east of Hainan Province on Sunday, according to the Central Meteorological Observatory. Those regions were battered by Hato earlier this week. Pakhar is estimated to move at a speed of 15 kilometers per hour in a west-northwesterly direction. Currently it's the seeding stage of rice and the peak season of fishing in southern China. The Ministry of Agriculture has urged local agricultural departments to carry out defensive work.
