The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) on Tuesday announced the qualifying standards of all disciplines at the 2019 World Championships in Athletics in Doha, Qatar.

The new standard for the men's 100m dash is now 10.10 seconds, the highest in history. Only two men in China have met the new standard – Su Bingtian (9.91 seconds) and Xie Zhenye (9.97 seconds). The women's 100m standard is now 11.24 seconds. Wei Yongli's time of 10.99 seconds makes her the only qualified Chinese sprinter.

Qualifying standards for the men's and women's 200m race are 20.40 seconds and 23.02 seconds, respectively. China's Xie Zhenye (20.16 seconds) and Bie Ge (20.39 seconds) have met the men's standard, while Wei Yongli (22.97 seconds) has met the women's. As for the 400m (men's: 45.30 seconds, women's: 51.80 seconds) and 10,000m (men's: 27 minutes and 40 seconds, women's: 31 minutes and 50 seconds), no Chinese athlete has met the standard so far.

Li Zicheng (2 hours, 15 minutes and 53 seconds) is the only Chinese athlete to meet the IAAF's standard of 2 hours and 16 minutes for the men's marathon. By contrast, nine women have already met the standard of 2 hours and 37 minutes for the women's event. In the men's 110m hurdles, Xie Wenjun has met the 13.46-second standard, while his teammate Zeng Jianhang's fastest time is just 0.19 seconds away from the mark.
