Chinese New Year celebrations take on a variety of flavors across China, in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, rice is a focal point of nearly all Spring Festival cuisine. Zong Zi, a pyramid-shaped rice dish that is wrapped in leaves and then steamed, has long been associated with the Dragon Boat Festival in June. But for the Zhuang ethnic minority, their version, known as Nian Zong, is a year-round delicacy.
