Did you know that before 1951 the enrollment rate of school-age Tibetan children was less than two percent? Tibet's modern education system was virtually built from scratch after the democratic reforms of Tibet in 1959. According to a local government report, by the end of 2018, the gross student enrollment rate in primary school was 99.5 percent and 99.51 percent in middle school.
