A knife-wielding attacker injured at least 11 people, including children, in Ji'an City in east China's Jiangxi Province on Thursday, according to local police.

The incident happened at around 7:12 a.m. local time. The 33-year-old attacker, surnamed Guo, has been detained.

Families of the assailant said Guo had a history of mental illness.

All the injured have been sent to the hospital with no life-threatening injuries.

An investigation into the case is underway.
