The Chaerhan section of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway is located around the Chaerhan Salt Lake, at an average altitude of about 2,800 meters, where the salt content in the air is high. If the salt sticks to the insulator of the contact wire, it could reduce the effectiveness of the insulation, and affect the security of railway transportation. Line workers here have to clean the insulators of the 100-kilometer contact networks along the Chaerhan section twice a year. Follow CGTN to find out how the line workers “fight” with salt on the Qinghai-Tibet railway.
