President Xi sends condolences to Indonesian president over deadly quake, tsunami

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Sunday sent a message of condolence to his Indonesian counterpart Joko Widodo over a powerful earthquake and the following tsunami that hit Indonesia's Central Sulawesi province. 
In his message, Xi said he was shocked to learn that the quake and tsunami have caused heavy casualties and property losses.
On behalf of the Chinese government and people as well as himself, Xi offered his condolences to the victims and sympathy to their relatives and the injured.
Indonesia is a friendly neighbor of China, and the Chinese people share the agony of the Indonesian people, Xi said, adding that China is willing to provide support and help.
Xi said he believed that under the leadership of the Indonesian government, the people of Indonesia will overcome this difficulty and rebuild their country as soon as possible.
As of Sunday afternoon, at least 832 people were confirmed dead and 540 injured in the powerful earthquake and tsunami that hit Sulawesi island in Indonesia on Friday.
