Belgian soldiers shot dead a man in the center of Brussels on Friday after he attacked them with a knife shouting Allahu Akbar. The 30-year-old Belgian attacker of Somali origin died after being rushed to hospital. The soldiers were not seriously injured. Prosecutors said the man "was not known for terrorist activities" and had twice shouted Allahu Akbar during the attack, just outside the city's central pedestrian zone while the soldiers were on patrol. Officials are treating the attack as a terrorist incident. Brussels has been on high alert, with large-scale troop presence, since terror attacks in March 2016 killed 32.
