Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman announced his resignation on Wednesday after a sharp disagreement over a Gaza ceasefire deal, throwing the government into turmoil.
As a result of his resignation, his party will quit the government, leaving Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with a narrow majority in Parliament.
The Egyptian-brokered ceasefire on Tuesday was made after two days of bloody confrontations between Israel and Hamas-led militant groups in the Gaza Strip that killed at least eight people and wounded over 20 civilians.
