Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a message of condolence to his Brazilian counterpart Jair Bolsonaro on Saturday over a dam collapse in the country's southeastern state of Minas Gerais.

In his message, President Xi mourned the dead and expressed heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families of the victims and wished the injured a quick recovery.

A tailings dam owned by mining giant Vale collapsed on Friday afternoon and left some 200 people missing.
