Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said China is willing to open up investment in basic industries to Qatar while meeting with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, who is on a state visit to China, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Thursday.
Li stressed that such cooperation will achieve mutually beneficial and win-win results. He also said China is willing to establish a long-term and stable strategic cooperation relationship in the energy field.
He added China is ready to deepen security cooperation with Qatar and safeguard peace and tranquility in the region and the world.

He expressed China's willingness to start the next round of free trade agreement (FTA) negotiations with Qatar and other members of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
Tamim said the current international political and economic situation requires the two countries to further strengthen cooperation. He expressed the hope to expand new areas of cooperation between the two countries.
He said Qatar will seek more investment opportunities in China, adding the country is ready to work with China and all other parties to promote free trade zone negotiations.
He expressed appreciation for China's active and constructive role in the Gulf region and the Arab world and looked forward to China's greater role in the future.
