It's show time for China's fashion designers. The annual Beijing Fashion Week has opened at the city's Fangheng International Center.
China's rich traditions never stop inspiring fashion designers. At the opening show of this year's Beijing Fashion week, traditional craftsmanship has been blended into modern designs.
Exquisite embroidery becomes eye-catching decorations on gowns and dresses as well as men's suits. The colors are vibrant and bold, with lavender, pink, red and bright yellow.
"The most distinctive feature of this collection is the fusion of fashion and culture. We used a lot of embroidery and traditional patterns in the design,” said fashion designer Wang Yongchao.

Initiated in 2016, Beijing Fashion Week aims to promote domestic fashion and fashion designers. This year's event is expected to be the largest so far. More than 150 designers from China and around the world will showcase their collections.
"It took us half a year to prepare for this show. Because the Beijing Fashion Week is a great platform for local designers to show their works, we all want to show our best here,” said fashion designer Zhu Ya'nan.
The week-long event features 35 fashion shows, three forums, three themed exhibitions and five competitions.
There will also be activities to highlight China's intangible cultural heritage.
Beijing Fashion Week runs through September 22.
