Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met his counterparts from both the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the Republic of Korea (ROK) alongside the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Wednesday.
Wang and his DPRK counterpart Ri Yong Ho first reassured the long-term friendship between the two countries. They said that the ties have been consolidated in the new era, citing the high-level diplomatic activities during the 70th anniversary of the DPRK.
Speaking of the third inter-Korean summit, Wang commended Pyongyang's efforts to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula and establish permanent peace.
Wang said China reacted quickly with firm support to the outcomes and it will continue to support the DPRK in pushing for denuclearization.
China always insists to resolve the issue through political dialogue and negotiation, and China will continue to support a resolution of the issue through the DPRK-US and inter-Korean dialogues, he added.
Ri thanked China's support and said it's willing to work together with China on the denuclearization issue.
ROK president Moon Jae-in during his address at the 73rd UN General Assembly, earlier on the day, stressed that the international community should assure Pyongyang that it's taking the right path to denuclearize.

Moon said Kim Jong Un is sincerely moving down the path of complete denuclearization and the international community should accept and include the isolated country, which will help accelerate the process.
"We must provide assurance that Kim Jong-un's decision to denuclearize was the right choice. We must lead the DPRK so it can continue to walk the path of permanent and stable peace," Moon told global leaders.
Wang in meeting with his ROK counterpart Kang Kyung-wha commended Seoul's efforts in concluding the achievements made at the third inter-Korean summit, and said China will continue to support the denuclearization of the peninsula. Kang thanked China's support and said Seoul will discuss and communicate with Beijing on the issue. They also agreed to accelerate the process.
