Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan met the Dominican Republic's Foreign Minister Miguel Vargas in Zhongnanhai on Tuesday in Beijing.
Wang delivered President Xi Jinping's greetings to President Danilo Medina of the Dominican Republic, sending congratulations to
the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Wang expressed that the Dominican Republic's government has recognized and adhered to the one-China principle and made a political decision to cut off "diplomatic ties" with Taiwan and establish diplomatic ties with China, which complies with the trend of the times and meets the fundamental and long-term interests of the two countries and their peoples.
Vargas conveyed President Medina's greetings and best wishes to President Xi, saying that multiple parties will abide by the one-China principle, as well as carry out exchanges and cooperation with China.
