Senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official Yang Jiechi on Wednesday said the sustained and healthy development of China-US relations serves the fundamental interests of people of both countries and the world.

Yang who is a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee made the remarks when meeting with US National Security Adviser John Bolton.

Yang will also attend Friday's China-US second diplomatic and security dialogue in Washington, and he said this dialogue would prepare for the coming meeting between two countries' leaders.

Chinese President Xi Jinping and his US counterpart Donald Trump plan to meet on the sidelines of a G20 summit, in Argentina at the end of November for a high-stakes talk.

The two sides should earnestly carry out the important consensuses reached between two heads of state, strengthen communication, promote dialogues, properly manage difference and carefully prepare to ensure positive results in the Argentine meeting, Yang said.

He noted China firmly uphold and promotes world peace and development and hopes that all countries will make efforts to this end.

Strategic mutual trust is a fundamental issue concerning the long-term development of Sino-US relations, said Yang, adding that China's economic development and the economic prosperity of the United States are opportunities for each other.

China is committed to working with the US to achieve a no-confrontational, conflictless, mutually respectful co-operation in which both sides win," he added.

"Both sides should seek an appropriate solution through equal and mutually beneficial negotiations," said the senior CPC official, adding that the essence of China, US trade and economic ties is mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation.

As the Taiwan issue remains the most critical and sensitive issue in China-US relations, Yang also hoped that the US could adhere to the one-China principle and the three joint statements between China and the United States and prudently handle Taiwan-related issues.

The two sides will also strengthen cooperation in the respective areas of the two militaries, counter-terrorism, law enforcement, drug control, humanities, local affairs, major international and regional issues to better serve the two peoples and the world, he added.

Bolton for his part said President Trump is looking forward to meeting with President Xi during the G20 summit and the US is willing to maintain close communication with China.

He stressed that the holding of the second round of China-US diplomatic and security dialogue is conducive to enhancing mutual strategic mutual trust and preparing for the meeting between the two heads of states.
