China opposes U.S. withdrawal from INF treaty: MOFA

China is opposed to the U.S. pulling out of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty with Russia, and calls for constructive dialog from both sides to resolve differences, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said in a statement on Saturday.
The United States announced on Friday its decision to withdraw from the decades-long landmark nuclear arms control pact with Russia.
"China regrets such a decision," Geng said, adding that China will closely follow the development and consequences from the U.S. unilateral withdrawal.
Geng also said China is opposed to the treaty's multilateralization.
"It is an urgent task to uphold and implement the current treaty, rather than have a new one," Geng said.
