Several injured after car hits barriers outside UK parliament, police treat it as 'terrorist incident'

A number of pedestrians were injured after a car collided with barriers outside the Houses of Parliament on Tuesday in London, the Metropolitan police confirmed.
The incident took place at 7:37 a.m. local time. Footage shows police arriving at the scene and the streets outside the parliament building being cordoned off.
According to the latest statement by the police, they are investigating the crash as a "terrorist incident."

"A number of people were injured as a result of the collision and they have been taken to a hospital. At this early stage none of the injuries appear to be life-threatening," police said.
The male driver, who is in his late 20s, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of terrorist offenses.
An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
