China Sept. forex reserves inch slightly down to $3.09 trillion

China's foreign exchange reserves edged slightly down to 3.09 trillion US dollars in September, data from the central bank showed on Sunday.
Reserves fell 22.7 billion dollars in September, compared with a loss of 8.23 billion dollars in August. 
"China's forex market has continued its steady momentum in September," said Wang Chunying, spokesperson for the State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE), adding that "As for the international financial market, the dollar index remained buoyant, while other markets have been more volatile."
The value of China's gold reserves fell to 70.3 billion dollars at the end of September, from 71.2 billion dollars at the end of August.
