An exhibition about Oriental aesthetics kicked off in Moscow on Wednesday.
Organized by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, Zhejiang Provincial Museum and the China Cultural Center in Moscow, the exhibition presents to the Russian audience the unique charm of Chinese people's aesthetic thoughts in daily life and classical Oriental aesthetics.
The exhibition is divided into four units, each presenting an element of ancient China through corresponding exhibits about spices, tea, Guqin, intangible cultural heritage silk weaving crafts, opera costumes, ceramic works, calligraphy, and painting.
The event has drawn hordes of curious Russian visitors, who sought to deepen their knowledge of Oriental aesthetics.
"They will ask me some professional words such as double-sided embroidery, and it is obvious that the Russian audience wants to know more about China," said Deputy Director of Zhejiang Provincial Museum Cai Qin.
The General Director of the State Museum of Oriental Art, Russia, Sedov Vsevolodovich, said that the exhibition of Oriental aesthetics opens a window for Russians to learn about Oriental life and the beauty of Chinese life.
"No matter in the West or the East, people share the same pursuit of the beauty of life. Cultural exchanges are a two-way street, and we are willing to build a bridge for the Russian audience to understand China," said Chen Hao, the curator of Zhejiang Provincial Museum.
"We are also willing to cooperate with the Russian museum so that the crystallization of Russian culture can also be displayed through our platform," Chen added.
The exhibition runs until March 18.
