China is capable of sustaining the challenges caused by the ongoing trade frictions with the US, said Lian Weiliang, vice chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission, China's top economic planning agency on Tuesday.
Lian said that although the current US-China trade spat will cause direct and indirect impact on the Chinese economy, China has the capability, confidence and conditions to maintain the stable development of the economy thanks to its overall resilience, the huge market potential and the increasing competitiveness of market entities of the country.
He also said that in order to cope with the challenges, China will continue efforts to expand domestic demand, lower burden for Chinese enterprises and encourage the companies to explore other international markets such as the Belt and Road countries, the European Union, Japan, Africa and ASEAN countries.
Lian made the remarks during the press conference on the newly released white paper on the ongoing China-US trade frictions.
