Popularly known as the "Chinese Riviera," Zhuhai is a premier tourist destination and one of the most livable cities in China. Located on the western cusp of the Pearl River Delta, it boasts 690 kilometers of palm-dotted coastline, along with emerald gardens, inviting open spaces, a subtropical climate and a comparatively low population density.

Yet, just half a century ago, Zhuhai was no more than a cluster of fishing villages. Then, in 1979, it was upgraded to city status, and in the following year, designated as the country's second Special Economic Zone. Today, it's one of the fastest-growing urban centers in the region.
