A 54-year-old man surnamed Cui was arrested after attacking students near a primary school at Fengrun District, Tangshan City in north China's Hebei Province on Thursday, according to local authorities.

The incident took place at 1:26 p.m. local time when the students were on their way to school.

The students who were injured have been sent to the hospital for treatment and are in stable condition.

Local authorities have launched the emergency response shortly after the incident.

An investigation is currently underway.
