Infographic: Chinese military strives to grow stronger through reform

August 1 this year marks the 91st anniversary of the establishment of the People's Liberation Army (PLA). Looking back over the past few years, China's military reform has picked up speed since President Xi Jinping put forward the Chinese dream of the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the dream of a strong army.
In December 2012, Xi visited the then Guangzhou military region and told military officials there that in order to realize the dream of the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, China must make a joint effort in making the country prosperous and the military strong.
His words ushered in a new era for the Chinese military.
In the past few years, the Chinese armed forces have undergone reforms unprecedented in scale and depth, with the goal of becoming a more efficient and capable force that could "fight to win."
