According to the CBA, these players will train together to prepare for the coming World Cup that will take place in China between August 31 and September 15. The sessions will begin on May 15, but players from Guangdong and Xinjiang - the two teams that just finished the 2019 CBA Finals - do not have to show up on that day. Moreover, Yi Jianlian who went to the U.S. to heal his foot injury will not return soon.
Some familiar names missed the list this time like Han Dejun, Li Gen and Hu Mingxuan, but considering that the sessions will last for months, these players still have the opportunity of playing on behalf of China at the world's top basketball tournament.
Ding Yanyuhang and Zhao Jiwei have missed the national team for a long time because of injuries. Since the 2018 Asian Games, Ding stay in the U.S. recovering and training. Zhao broke his left foot during team training in August 2018, and that incident cost him the Asian Games. Though he had been struggling since he came back in the second half of the 2018-19 season, coach Li Nan still invited Zhao to the camp training for his court vision and defense.
