Argentine football icon Diego Maradona has been discharged after spending several hours in a private clinic in Buenos Aires on Friday.
The 1986 FIFA World Cup-winning captain was earlier admitted to the clinic after doctors detected bleeding in his stomach.
A number of Maradona's fans gathered outside the Olivos Clinic where they were praying for his speedy recovery. One of them was Juan Martin Esclarandi, a die-hard fan of the legendary footballer, who was seen singing for his idol outside the clinic. He later told the local media, “Diego (Maradona) is the biggest thing we have. As the song says, 'he who doesn't love Diego doesn't love his mother.' Diego is the greatest. Diego is Argentina.”

According to local media reports, the 58-year-old former captain of the Albiceleste went to the clinic to undergo routine medical examinations, but doctors detected bleeding in his stomach and had to conduct further testing.
Maradona is currently working as a coach in Mexico but had come to Argentina to celebrate Christmas and New Year with his family. Incidentally, he was admitted to the hospital just a few hours after an announcement was made that he would continue to coach the Mexican second division team, Dorados de Sinaloa.
The footballer with the golden left, who coached Argentina at the 2010 FIFA World Cup, began coaching the club team in September 2018.
Incidentally, he has a long history of hospitalizations and a slew of health issues.
He suffered a massive health scare in January 2000 when he suffered a cardiac arrest in Punta del Este, a spa in Uruguay, associated with his cocaine addiction. However, in recent years, he has been suffering from severe arthritis in both knees.
