Xi congratulates Tokayev on Kazakhstan election win

Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message on Monday to Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on his presidential election victory.

In the message, Xi pointed out that China and Kazakhstan are friendly neighbors and have a relationship based on sincerity and mutual trust, as well as being comprehensive strategic partners of win-win cooperation.

Xi said the two countries have made fruitful results in jointly building the Belt and Road and a community with a shared future for mankind.

There is still vast development potential in bilateral ties, he added.

Xi said he attaches great importance to China-Kazakhstan relations and is willing to have close contact with President Tokayev to push the development of bilateral ties.

Kazakhstan's incumbent President Tokayev has won the country's presidential election by gaining some 70 percent of the votes, the national exit poll results showed on Sunday.
