Chinese President Xi Jinping on Sunday voiced his support for Tajikistan's domestic and foreign policies and said China is willing to enhance cooperation with Tajikistan to safeguard common strategies, security and development rights.
Xi made the remarks during his meeting with his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon, who came to Beijing for the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF) held from April 25-27.
President Xi said the two sides should align the Belt and Road Initiative with Tajikistan's development strategy for the period up to 2030 and expand cooperation in trade, investment, finance, connectivity, humanities, security and other fields.
He called for enhancing the capacity of customs clearance and transportation at ports to provide convenient conditions for the expansion of trade between the two countries.
China encourages Chinese competitive enterprises to invest in Tajikistan and help Tajikistan's industrialization, Xi added.
The Chinese president also said the two sides should organize a China-Tajikistan cultural festival, adding that he is willing to strengthen coordination within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to push forward the achievements reached during the Qingdao summit.
China supports Tajikistan to take the presidency of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia, Xi added.
Rahmon said the fruitful results achieved during the second BRF strongly proved that the forum is a platform for pragmatic cooperation.
He hailed the worldwide significance of the Belt and Road Initiative, which has the potential to support Tajikistan to realize industrialization.
Tajikistan is willing to deepen cooperation with China in infrastructure, investment, agriculture, science and technology and other fields, Rahmon said.
The two sides should also continuously fight against the "three evil forces" of terrorism, extremism and separatism and enhance security cooperation, he added.
