The fourth "China's forest oxygen bar" list, a reference to places with plenty of trees, was recently released and includes 22 forest parks. CGTN collected 10 out of the 22 forest parks to review. Our destination this time is Jianfengling National Forest Park in south China's Hainan Province.
Located in the southwest of Hainan Island in Ledong County, about 90 kilometers away from Sanya City, Jianfengling National Forest Park is the largest and best preserved tropical forest in China. It was chosen as one of the top 10 most magnificent forests in China by China National Geography Magazine in 2005.

The park covers an area of 1,600 hectares and was established in 1992 to preserve the rainforest and the rare animals living there.

What to see in Jianfengling National Forest Park?

There are a total of 18 mountains with an altitude of over 1,000 meters in the forest area. Jianfeng Peak, with an altitude of 1,412 meters, is the highest peak in the park. A hike to the top of the main peak will take you about two and a half hours. You'll be amazed by the stunning rainforest view, especially at sunrise or sunset.

A trip to Jianfengling National Forest Park is incomplete without going to Tianchi Lake, which literally means “Heaven's Lake.” The lake is often shrouded in mist thanks to the rainforest surroundings and an altitude of some 600 meters above sea level.

Mingfeng Valley, which is two kilometers from Tianchi Lake, is also worth a visit. It is the most representative tropical rain forest valley in Jianfengling National Forest Park and is known for its large variety of birds, such as rare peacocks, hawks, and egrets.
