According to a witness living nearby, the black cherry QQ arrived at the site by noon on July 2. By then, the rain was heavy, and flooding was knee-deep. A couple and two children, got out of the car and left it behind. Soon after, the car was dragged into the middle of a rice field by the flood. /VCG Photo.

The owner appeared with staff from an insurance company in the afternoon of July 3. According to him, the flood overwhelmed them when they were driving back from Chengdu city. In the consideration of safety, he pulled over and left the car by the side of the road. /VCG Photo.
