The big man from the university, known as "Beida," stayed in the game and kept his side in front with a spinning layup.
Then his teammate, Wang, hit a turnaround jumper with just over 20 seconds remaining in the game, on his way to earning the coveted MVP honors as the CUBA squad clinched an edge-of-seat win over the CBA Rookies & Sophomores in the Rising Stars Challenge, for the first time in the tournament's history.
After winning the prestigious MVP award, an elated Wang said, "I'm very excited right now because we came here to learn from these players, but just now, maybe we did a better job in some areas and won the game, so it's really exciting for us, and this win will also help build up our confidence."
