Xi sends message as China, Dominican Republic mark diplomatic anniversary

Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to President of the Dominican Republic Danilo Medina on Wednesday, as the two countries marked the first anniversary of their diplomatic relations.
Xi said the diplomatic relations have opened a new chapter in bilateral ties, and the two countries have been promoting cooperation in various areas.
It's been proved that establishing the diplomatic relationship is the right political choice for both countries, Xi said.
China highly values the bilateral ties and is willing to work with the Dominican government to further cooperation and to bring more prosperity, he added.
On his side, Medina said the two countries have made significant achievements since last year, and the Dominican Republic has become an important part of China's Belt and Road Initiative.
He said his country hopes to deepen cooperation based on equality and mutual benefit.
