Hundreds of people who benefited from the Ankang Home project after the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake have reunited with their Ankang “fathers” and “mothers” this week in Chengdu in southwest China’s Sichuan Province.
Founded by the All-China Women’s Federation and the China Children and Teenagers Fund, the Ankang Home project received 672 children who were homeless or lived in extreme poverty because of the earthquake.
Now, 282 of them have college degrees, 342 have started careers, and 48 are still being taken care of by the program.
