Two people were killed, five others injured after they were stabbed by a man in Shanghai on Wednesday night.
The incident happened at around 8:10 p.m. local time in a complex on Gonghua Road, Pudong district, when the 44-year-old suspect, surnamed Huang, attacked people with a kitchen knife.
The police got to the scene as soon as they were alerted and disarmed Huang with help from the people nearby.
A 60-year-old woman died at the scene and a 64-year-old man died while being treated in hospital, as did the suspect, who had also been injured during the struggle with police. The injuries of the other five are not life-threatening.
Police found out that Huang was unemployed and was deemed to be unsociable and bad-tempered, always quarreling with neighbors, but further investigations into the case are being made, a statement said.
