Coastguards on patrol found a fishing boat engulfed in flames near a dock in Shantou City, south China’s Guangdong Province on Friday. The coastguard used high-pressure water canon to bring the blaze under control. Several officers rushed onto the boat and removed gas tanks and sprayed water into the burning cabin. It took three hours to extinguish the flames. No casualties have been reported. The preliminary investigation pointed to a short circuiting power line as the cause of the flames.
