Former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak was charged on Wednesday with three counts of criminal breach of trust and one of using his position for gratification as part of a probe into missing money from state fund 1MDB.
Investigators are looking into how 42 million ringgit (10 million US dollars) went from SRC International, a former 1MDB unit, into Najib's personal bank account.
Najib Razak pleaded not guilty on the criminal breach of trust and corruption charges against him related to the state investment fund 1MDB.
Each of the four charges carries a prison sentence of up to 20 years. The abuse of power charge carries a fine of not less than five times the "value of gratification".
