The birthday cake was customized by a young man surnamed Li for his father. Though it looks tough to swallow, it is a sweet dark-red sponge cake with orange colored frosting. /VCG Photo.

His father, a hotpot chef for more than 30 years, was totally tricked by its misleading appearance, "I thought it was a joke at first! It was quite memorable to have a sweet 'hotpot soup base' cake after making it for decades." /VCG Photo.

They later shared the cake with others in the restaurant. As Li said, his father has been working very hard to support the family over the years. He came up with the idea to honor him on his birthday. /VCG Photo.
