The NBA's Brooklyn Nets have offered a two-way contract to Chinese player Ding Yanyuhang but he has so far not accepted it, according to Tencent Sports.
This is not the first time Ding has received a two-way offer. After playing for the Dallas Mavericks in the 2017 NBA Summer League, the team made the same offer to Ding who then refused and returned to China to play for Shangdong High-Speed Basketball Club and became the CBA (national league) MVP for the 2017-18 season.

Ding went to the US after Shandong was knocked out in the semi-finals of the CBA playoffs for medical treatment and training. He first went to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) to treat a knee injury. Then Ding arrived in New York to train with Chris Brickley, a famous private coach who used to work with NBA star players including Kevin Durant, Damian Lillard and Carmelo Anthony before accepting an invitation from the Brooklyn Nets to play for the team in the 2018 NBA Summer League.
However, as a result of a recurrence of the knee injury, Ding will probably miss the Summer League in Las Vegas. Medical staff of the Nets suggested that he will need at least a month for rest afterward if he plays with the injury in the Summer League, according to Tencent Sports.

A two-way contract was a new introduction to NBA in 2017. Players with such contracts can spend 45 days at most in the NBA and the rest of the time in the G League but are not allowed to play in the playoffs. As for salaries, in 2017-018 season, a player could earn about 75,000 US dollars for his time at the G League and up to around 204,000 dollars if he plays 45 days in the NBA.
Players with two-way contracts can still achieve success in the NBA. Quinn Cook from the Golden State Warriors is a good example. He signed a two-way contract with the Warriors in October 2017 and grasped the chance when Stephen Curry had to miss games because of injury and delivered outstanding performances. In the end, he earned himself a new two-year deal in April and won the 2017-18 NBA Championship with Golden State.
