China-Russia relations are at a new stage, said Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi at a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Sochi on Monday.
Wang announced that Chinese President Xi Jinping will pay a state visit to Russia next month, where he will be meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin. The visit, according to Wang, will usher in a new chapter in the development of China-Russia relations.
Wang highlighted that China-Russia relations are at the highest level in history, stressing that the comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination between China and Russia is mature, stable and solid. He vowed to resolutely deepen comprehensive cooperation and push forward the development of China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination.
Noting that this year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Russia diplomatic relationship, Wang also said that both sides will take this opportunity to enhance coordination and strengthen bilateral ties.
As the trade volume between China and Russia has reached 100 billion U.S. dollars, Wang praised the close cooperation with Russia in all areas, saying that the cooperation will benefit the two peoples.
The minister pointed out that peace and development are the mainstreams of the world and China will stay committed to win-win cooperation. He also reiterated the opposition against unilateralism, malicious smear and sanctions, saying that they are not long-lasting solutions and will only be widely reviled.
China will work with Russia to firmly uphold the UN-centered international system and the rules-based international multilateral trading system. We will strive to build the community of shared future for mankind together and tackle the global challenges together, said Wang.
