China calls on the US to work toward the development of China-US relations and the interests of the two peoples, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Thursday, responding to FBI chief's remarks about China posing a security threat.

"China in many ways represents the broadest, most complicated, most long-term counter-intelligence threat we face," FBI Director Christopher Wray said at a Senate Homeland Security Committee hearing on Wednesday.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang said the interests of China and the US have been largely integrated with the development of their relationship, and maintaining sound China-US relations is beneficial to both countries and their people.
