With just over three months to go until the FIBA World Cup, China's men's basketball team has gathered in Beijing, where the final roster for the squad will be trimmed down.
Twenty players were selected to attend the final tryouts, and only 12 will get to represent hosts China in the tournament. Except for six players from Guangdong and Xinjiang, who just went head to head in the Chinese Basketball Association Finals and were not present on the first day, the rest of the athletes were in the capital to prepare for the tournament.
China is in Group A and will have its opening game against Cote d'Ivoire on August 31. The country will play a series of warm-ups in the next three months, including flying to the U.S. for the NBA Summer League.
Zhou Qi, who has been recovering from a knee injury suffered last October during a preseason game between the Houston Rockets and Shanghai Sharks, was in Beijing for training where he is getting ready like all the others for the tournament.
