At least 12 people were killed and 32 others wounded in an explosion targeted at an election campaign rally in Afghanistan's northern Takhar province on Saturday afternoon, Tolo News reported, citing local security officials.
A motorcycle bomb was detonated just before 2 p.m. local time, targeting female parliamentary candidate Nazifa Beg.
The candidate was busy campaigning when a blast occurred among her supporters, killing 12 people on the spot and injuring 32 others, according to provincial police spokesman Mohammad Jawad Hajari.
No group has claimed responsibility for the deadly attack.
This is the third attack against the election campaign process this month. The parliamentary elections are scheduled for next Saturday.
