The 55-kilometer-long Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge opened to traffic on October 24, 2018, after nine years of construction. Together with his team, Lin Ming, the project's chief engineer and deputy secretary of the project's CPC committee, overcame tremendous difficulties and challenges along the way. Li has firmly believed in the strength of faith. He wrote 37 years ago in his application for CPC membership: “What’s truly terrible and sad is not failure or setbacks but the lack of faith.”
