As this year's theme is Myths and Legends, some new elements were added to the event. Interactive sculptures including a carving ball where people could get their hands on and carve ice on their own could be found on Parliament Street. /VCG Photo

Since the event came ahead of the Chinese New Year celebrations, the organizers chose the phoenix as a figure for the live carving. In traditional Chinese culture, phoenix is a symbol of virtue and grace and it was once believed to only appear during times of peace and prosperity. /VCG Photo
