How crazy are fans for the Dallas Mavericks' one-year rookie Luka Doncic? ClutchPoints reported on Sunday that a gum chewed by Doncic during the game against the Toronto Raptors in January was collected by a fan and put up for auction on eBay with a starting price of 10,000 U.S. dollars.
This may sound ridiculous to many but not in the NBA, one of the world's most successful sport leagues. You never know how much fans are willing to pay for items related to their favorite players, ranging from a small chewed gum to even more unreasonable things.

Furthermore, someone collected a bag of air during the game and made 15,000 U.S. dollars by selling it.

However, the company got off on the wrong foot in the opening game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics when LeBron James' jersey was torn after a physical competition with Jaylen Brown. However, instead of the reputation of Nike's quality getting hurt, the jersey was sold to a fan for 45,000 U.S. dollars.

It's understandable that fans would spend thousands or even tens of thousands of U.S. dollars on jerseys of the super stars like Bryant, James and Durant, a favored position that most role players usually won't be able to enjoy. However, J.R. Smith became an exception in 2018. After his famously confusing move of handling the ball in the last five seconds of Game 1 of the 2017-18 NBA Finals, the jersey he wore that day was sold for 23,548 U.S. dollars.
