April 23 marks World Book Day, an annual event designated by the UNESCO to promote reading, publishing, and copyright. This year, anchors from the China Media Group will take you on a journey through the exquisite works of Shakespeare to explore the beauty of literature and language.
In episode 11, Shen Ting reads “Sonnet 29,” which is part of the Fair Youth sequence. Between the lines, the speaker bemoans his identity as a failure, but when he thinks of his beloved one, he feels better. Sonnet 29 is presented in a typical Shakespeare sonnet form, with 14 lines and follows the traditional English rhyme scheme.
Shen Ting is a winner of the highest honor for a radio and television host in China – the Golden Microphone Award. He is also the host of “More to Read.”
