Thirty-three people are dead after a bus fell into a valley on Saturday in Maharashtra's Raigad district in India.
"We have confirmed 33 deaths and only one person managed to survive the bus crash. Our team is trying to recover the bodies," Anupam Srivastava, commander of India's National Disaster Relief Force, told AFP.
The survivor jumped out of the bus and managed to get to the road and informed local authorities.
The bus was carrying 34 employees from Dapoli Agriculture University, according to AFP citing civil administrator Vijay Suryawanshi.
The administrator said they were going to the popular hill station of Mahabaleshwar for a private picnic when the incident happened.
Local media Indian Today said the incident occurred at around 12:30 p.m. local time when the bus driver lost control over the vehicle at a turn.
The search and rescue operation is still ongoing.
