The ongoing tourism cultural event, "Year of Xi'an," has revitalized the ancient city in northwest China's Shaanxi Province. The two-month-long event will run until March 6.

"For an ancient city, it has been presenting new vitality during reforms, while opening itself to the world. I think that is a key path for the development of Xi'an," said Zhang Yiwu, a professor of Department of Chinese Language and Literature with Peking University.
From fashion to food, the "Year of Xi'an" is showcasing what makes the city special. The Lantern Festival last week was marked with a series of activities, including a citywide light show.
