Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar said he believes the European Union will strike a deal with Britain to smooth its exit from the bloc, even as Dublin continues its preparations for all outcomes, including a no deal. Earlier this day, the UK's Labour Party also claimed to back a proposal that will try to force the government's Brexit decision.

"As things stand, the UK will leave the EU on March 29, six weeks from now, with or without an agreement. I believe we will strike a deal," Varadkar said in a speech on Wednesday.
"We are firmly of the view that the best and only way to ensure an orderly withdrawal and protect the Good Friday Agreement is to ratify the Withdrawal Agreement, agreed between the EU and the British government."

UK Labour: "will back plan to force government Brexit decision by mid-March"

Britain's opposition Labour Party will back a proposal to try to force the government to take "crucial decisions" on its Brexit plans by the mid-March, the party's Brexit spokesman said Wednesday.
Labour lawmaker Yvette Cooper, a leading campaigner against Britain leaving the European Union without an agreement, published a new bill on Tuesday that seeks to force a decision by the government on whether Britain would leave with a deal, without an agreement or extend the negotiation period by mid-March.

"We'll support that," Keir Starmer told BBC Radio on Wednesday when asked whether the party would back Cooper's amendment, which she would put forward later this month if the government has not reached a deal with the EU by February 26.
