China's National Day holiday is one of the most important annual festivals of the year. A huge number of tourists from all over the country descend on the Chinese capital on October 1 to enjoy the holiday atmosphere and experience local Beijing culture. CGTN correspondent Nick Moore followed this tradition and visited the most famous tourist spots in Beijing to do as the Chinese do.

Nanluoguxiang is one of the best-preserved historic hutong streets in Beijing, and attracts people from all corners of the country. In recent years the area has developed into a tourist destination that combines culture with business, with stores selling all kinds of snacks and traditional local crafts.

Tanghulu is hawthorn fruit on a stick coated with sugar.

Baodu can be translated to "exploding stomach" in English. It is cooked in boiling water, and mixed with seasoning. The taste is crisp and delicious.

The Summer Palace is the best preserved example of a Qing Dynasty imperial garden. It was among the first places in China to be recognized as a protected cultural heritage site, and was named a World Heritage Site in 1998. That makes it a must-see tourist destination for visitors from China and around the world.
